Two Over One Bidding System
This system has been structured over SAYC Bidding System. Basic auction is similar but Two Over One is a more artificial system. There are some important differences between two systems.
- Major opennings requires always 5 cards in all sitting positions.
- A suit response in 2nd level without jump (as in the name of the system) to any one level suit openning is game forcing. Second level responses require 12+ HCPs and 5 cards of major or 4 cards of minor. On the other hand if the 1st opponent overcalls in 2nd level or with 1 Spade, then response in second level should not be taken as game forcing. One more thing, if the responder bid before and pass, then his response in 2nd level is not game forcing
- Concequently, 1 NT response to 1 major opennings is one tour forcing, shows 6-12 points and does not deny support. Some players accept 1 NT response to also minor opennings as one tour forcing. We will not repeat the first tour biddings here which you can examine from the SAYC system, but we will consider the second tour biddings.
